How To Score 7 to 8 Band in IELTS Academic and General in Karachi

Apparently, it seems difficult to the candidates to score their desired bands in IELTS exam but actually it is not. It is just a matter of tips, tricks, and techniques to follow and you are done! As IELTS include testing of four skills of language i.e. speaking, listening, reading, and writing, sometimes it becomes an uphill task to focus on each while practicing. To save your day, here are some tips that will help you get your scores.

Present your writing properly

It has been usually observed among the students that they don’t stress much on their writing presentation while preparing for or taking IELTS exam, and this could be a major reason for low band scores. It is recommended to take good care of your writing alignment. For instance, you must give a line space between the paragraphs along with an indentation at the start of each para.

Don’t experiment

Sometimes students, in essence of putting weightage in their spoken and writing, use structures and vocabulary that they are not used to of which ultimately leads to less cohesion in statements. It is advisable for the students to use regular structures and vocabulary (with variety and in context) they are aware off.

Manage time

In IELTS exams, managing time is the key element above all, especially in reading. Students in IELTS often could not attempt all 40 questions in the given time which makes their reading scores low. You must set time for each reading section to avoid leaving any question answered. Similarly, you must allocate specific time while attempting writing task 1 and 2 because giving extra time to any of them means compromising the other one.

Revise your draft once you are done

Once the writing part is done, students leave the answer sheet ignoring the possible mistakes. As a result, markers deduct their scores for errors which appear unintentionally in writing. It is better to take a thorough look in your writing after completing as there may be some possible errors of subject verb agreement, spelling, punctuation or a statement may have left incomplete.

Stick to the listening format

IELTS listening is a critical part in the sense that the audio is played only once, so all you get is a single chance to hear and note your answer. In this case, you must write your answer as you listen rather than waiting for the audio to finish. Moreover, you must listen to the words carefully as homophones could be troublesome.

Keep eye-contact

There is a common myth about IELTS speaking that it only has to do with answering the questions and that’s all. But it is not the only thing that counts your scores. One major thing that adds up your scores is Eye-contact. While answering in speaking session, you must maintain your eye-contact with the examiner as your whole session is video-recorded and later it is reviewed for assessment.

Read strategically

Reading section is quiet long and time taking to answer, so you must go with a wise strategy. Some students try to read the whole passage as they used to do in their schools which is not a good choice. You should go for target reading i.e. skimming and scanning. Reading each and every word is pointless as you don’t have enough time and there are a lot of questions to answer, so just find the specific information in paragraphs asked in the questions and move on.

Speak lively

Candidates in IELTS speaking tests usually speak in a monotone without varying in their sentence structures which makes the marker feel casual and memorized. To avoid any such remarks, it is better if you keep your spoken alive by using ‘stress’ and ‘intonation’ techniques and constructing variety of structures as this has been especially notified in IELTS speaking band descriptors

Scoring 7.5-8 is bands quiet easy if these suggestions are taken into consideration. Just consider these points, take your IELTS test and you are good to fly!
